My areas of expertise are in the fields of social sensing and distributed systems. Prior to joining Google, I completed my PhD from UIUC, where I developed scalable systems and algorithms for real-time summarization and factual distillation of social content streams, in the presence of social influence, bias, and polarization. I received best paper award at IEEE ICAC 2015, best-in-session presentation award at IEEE INFOCOM 2017, and Chirag Foundation Graduate Fellowship in Computer Science (2011-12). My PhD research is advised by Prof. Tarek Abdelzaher. We collaborated with IBM T.J. Watson Research and U.S. Army Research Laboratory. I have also interned at Google and Facebook.
Our research is available as Apollo Social Sensing Toolkit, which is a novel social sensing platform for tracking current events and distilling high value content from large amounts of noisy social media content. Apollo was selected as a Golden Nugget of NS-CTA (Network Science Collaborative Technology Alliance). Many academic and industry labs have used Apollo for social media analytics research. We developed SocialTrove to scale Apollo-like systems, which provides API to hierarchically organize high dimensional social stream using application provided similarity measurement, and query for matching objects at different granularities. Built on top of Apache Spark, HDFS, and Memcache, it achieves high throughput and low latency. SocialTrove received a Best Paper Award in ICAC 2015.
We taught Real-Time Systems during Fall 2016. We redesigned the laboratory section, and taught real-time software architecture, safety critical and mission critical requirements, and feedback control using iRobot Create robotics platform and a Raspberry Pi.
I have received both my master's and bachelor's degree in gateio login from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology in 2011 and 2009, respectively.
I have worked as a lecturer in the same department from 2009 to 2011. I have instructed courses including Computer Graphics, Operating Systems, Simulation and Modeling, Wireless Networking, Algorithms, Database.
